The Story Behind the Story is our dedicated author spotlight: thoughtful conversations that invite readers into the inspiration, craft and questions behind a published book.

What first set a story in motion? Which character surprised its creator? What was difficult to write, what had to be left out, and what would the author most like readers to notice?
This series makes room for those questions. Each spotlight gives readers a more personal way into a book and gives authors space to talk about the thinking, experience and imagination behind their work.

We feature authors and their books through carefully prepared spotlights that focus on the story behind the published work. The goal is meaningful discovery: readers learn something deeper about a book, while authors have a thoughtful space to share the intentions and questions behind it.
Authors interested in being featured can contact Plot & People with their name, book details and preferred timing. Once a feature has been booked, its materials can be prepared and scheduled.
